“There wasn’t really a voice for the students last year, and I feel like now there is,” eighth-grader Jaslyn Mejia Pena said. “I‘m learning things that I actually want to learn about and I’m really interested in. ... An incredible group of leaders visited Collins Middle School in May to see first-hand how WPS and Salem Public Schools are reimagining education. Thank you to U.S. Congressman Edward Markey, Linda Pizzuti Henry, U.S. Rep. Seth Moutlon, State Rep. Manny Cruz, State Sen. Joan Lovely, City of Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo, City of Boston Sr. Advisor Stephen Chan and all who attended.
We are grateful to those who joined us to hear about the power of learner-centered education from middle schoolers themselves!
