Last night, Mayor Michelle Wu delivered Boston’s first-ever State of the Schools address, celebrating the city’s progress toward hands-on, learner-centered classrooms and calling on every sector to “invest in Boston’s success by stepping up for our families and our future.”

We were honored that Mayor Wu highlighted WPS's partnership with Boston Public Schools to reimagine the 7th- and 8th-grade experience—helping students enter high school with greater agency, engagement, and purpose.

With educators, families, and civic partners gathered in the stunning new Josiah Quincy Upper School auditorium, the evening captured what’s possible when a city comes together to build a vibrant, connected learning ecosystem.

The WPS Institute creates innovative programs and partnerships to transform learning. We advance models of schooling where learning thrives everywhere, in classrooms and beyond; where students and their families are empowered to shape their own educational journeys; and where entire communities contribute to the development of young people.
